Stable Assessment! Eye Update!

3am in a not-so-unusual state of insomnia. If I had to say how well my right eye is doing, I can gladly say it’s an 8.5/10. Overall light sensitivity is annoying on some near-vampiric levels but nevertheless I must carry on. The best thing has been my ability to actually do my job without need to slow down, sit down in the dark or even dizziness. I can sit and read, my proprioception is pretty decent as far as walking around, seeing things, moving things.

Exercise, however, a slightly different story. Despite being on the verge of hitting a week 3 of 4 sets of As Many Reps As Possible (AMRAP for short) and tackling pretty hefty weight, the Cornea Abrasion set me back to where, in the name of safety, I had to go back to using a more Stabilization and Muscular Endurance format — doing 4 sets of 10-20 reps. I made it a Pull day — Hang Rows, Lat Pulldowns, Seated Rows, Bicep/Hammer Curls.

To be sincere, I was sad. Yes, I felt the pump but the fact that I felt a slight struggle in weight that I otherwise would easily conquer was a mess for me personally. Not exactly square one but not exactly, “Oh ho, watch me go!” either. I managed to get the job done but I personally just felt bummed about it. My pre-workout meal was glorious and I’ve had plenty of sleep, study time, well-warmed up. I’m sure the mood will pass but it is a bothersome although fleeting feeling.

I also had to play it safe as I also had to not over-exert myself because I didn’t want to find myself straining this eye to where recovery suffers a setback of any kind.

On that note, I’m going to enjoy this lovely bowl of oatmeal — packed with old fashioned oats, red apple, chia seeds, saigon cinnamon, pink salt, blue agave and banana.IMG_0931
