This Final Run! A looming Farewell to Elden Ring

If you’ve been tuning to my YouTube channel, you know I have one more playlist in regards to Elden Ring playthrough. One set is my NG+ run, where I ventured the game in a revenge tour while also taking time to do in-game analysis and commentary on environment, story, lore and questlines. The 2nd one was NG+2 with the inclusion of Shadow of the Erdtree, all the while not understanding that the DLC’s story was meant to be post-base game but right before you choose your ending.

Now this final playlist is strictly main boss fights of all of Elden Ring but with one caveat— a Deflect Counter build. Some players are about multiple challenge runs or pvp, which is why some players have thousands of hours into the game. Like many awesome things, eventually one has to move on. This game, its lore and boss fights were rich and abundant with content that, before I bite the dust, I may tell younger kids about how legendary this game is.

This last run is also personal. The previous runs, you saw me use new tricks, use spirit ashes that tipped fights almost unfairly in my favor at times. This time, the only spirit Ash involved is Deenh since…he simply gives a buff upon summoning and after he’s just floating around. He doesn’t have high HP and doesn’t dish out much damage. This run is centered on using the Deflect Tear and Guard Counters. When using that Deflect Tear paired with the Thorny Cracked Tear, while using the Blood infused Greatsword while equipping Curved Sword Talisman, Two Handed Sword, Lord Of Blood Exultation and Crimson Seed+1 Talismans and the result is dominance. Particularly when the bosses are humanoid or just bigger humanoid.

I enjoy this run but not without noticing its flaws, particularly when facing dragons and giants. That is when I was faced with needing to use spells and thanks to expansive research by YouTuber Youwy, it helped me choose wisely while still maintaining my style.

When it’s over, it’ll be bittersweet. There will be a genuine sense of farewell the way it was for me with Persona 5 Royal and Persona 3 Reload. Not that I didn’t feel this way towards Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3 or Persona 4 Golden, It’s just that P3R and P5R felt personal. The only honorable mention would be when I did Final Fantasy VII as that was a whole window of my adolescence.

Do I think, I’ll run into another game that will give me an impact like those aforementioned games? Time will tell. I also have several playthroughs to conclude for the channel, all the while needing to finish FireFrei.

Stay tuned, 322 Crew. We’re almost halfway through the year and there’s more to come. Be sure to subscribe to https://YouTube.com/@ron322 if you haven’t already to be caught up with all my channel content.
