Ron322 Launch! At Long Last, What’s New?
My beloved 322Crew,
You’re all probably wondering about the changes. No more Ron Gunz, no more Gunz Crew after 11 years. To give a simple explanation — rebranding. I hated even the thought of it but due to how social media now tends to suppress anything that is a remote reference to guns, this would definitely affect me in terms of algorithms in video platforms and social media. I also grew tired of seeing my brand pop up in conjunction w/artists or performers that are completely irrelevant to who I am or what I do. It was a very difficult choice but one for the long term best. This goes especially in the wake of a favorite YouTube of mine who had to do something similar and change his channel from Oppai Senpai to Anime Explained, all because Oppai is deemed an inappropriate word. It is a side effect of the last 5 years worth of censorship and at times an overstimulated sense of sensitivity to words down to where it isn’t necessary.
Since my last blog entry, much had happened. I ended up taking on the art of video game livestreaming, which I actually enjoy. I managed to complete my guitar pedal rig and thus have no use to purchase any other pedals. I ended up completing a deep dive course w/NASM in respect to Plant Based Dieting, which I was well informed prior to the course and post-course felt a better sense of understanding and discussing the matter. I cleared out some old debt that had hung over my head for a few years.
The last and most important thing that happened since my last entry — taking care of my mental health. I went through a sad breakup during the course of this pandemic, found myself down spiraling to where I sought help for my sanity. I was diagnosed with Recurrent Depressive Disorder and since around July of last year, I had been in therapy. It has led to me opening up to friends I otherwise wouldn’t really open up to but also teaching me the value of drawing boundaries and standing up for myself — two things that I was horrible at enforcing. Sure, I did gain quite some weight in the process but I do believe the dawn is breaking again for me to reclaim my physical health now that my mental health is rehabilitating. I have also officially launched my store here on my website so that all of you may directly support by buying my music directly from my site as the money goes directly to my funds instead of sharing w/any 3rd parties.
More art to decorate this page is to come. Please be patient but also feel free to comment and share this blog. I’ve also revamped the hub of this site so that in the Connect With Me section, you may go ahead and Subscribe to my Youtube channel as well.
Until next time,
Ron322

‘RonaMania 2020 Pt. 2! More Lifestyle Changes!
In the last blog post, I discussed how this whole COVID19 thing affected me on a fitness level. Thankfully, since the last post, I’ve been able to look over my matters & understand how to readjust in order to get to where I was before the pandemic. In this post, however, I’ll be discussing the more artistic aspects of how this pandemic altered my way of life.
As a musician, I have extra time but also time to write. The hardest part is doing the work when, on an emotional level, you aren’t always there. It’s a lesson in frustration but one that I strive to overcome. I’ve decided to prepare to make weekly Sunday jam videos on Youtube (starting 08/02/2020) just to share more of the music/performing arts element of Ron Gunz.
In this same process, another element has come into play — gaming. Let’s be real for one second — yes, fitness is something I value, along w/drawing, music & writing…but gaming is another element by itself that I enjoy. I’ve decided to use video game playthroughs done by yours truly as a mental exercise to further freshen up the wells of creativity in my other elements. It has also become the very thing to help me open up more & be more of myself out here in this world. In a world being plunged into uncertainty & fear, we gotta let out the fun again somehow. If asked 10 years ago that I would become an entrepreneur of this kind, I’d be flabbergasted but also skeptical — because 10 years ago, I was still in process of controlling my physical health and to some degree my mental as well.
Of course, why not pick the games I personally enjoy as part of the dissecting process. As a test, I ran w/Sonic Mania Plus b/c of how nostalgic & entertaining it was (is & always will be). Then I dived into Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Eyes of Heaven, based off one of my fav manga/anime up to Chapter 9 due to “scene blocked” reasons (which will lead me to needing a Capture Card). I had previously KO’ed the entire story of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection & now doing Persona 5 Royal. In the process of immersing myself into video games again, I’m finding more of a footing in terms of analysis, commentary & social interaction. This ultimately makes it easier to engage in the real world versus just keeping your mouth shut and never getting in the habit of social interaction (because social distancing is definitely causing some sense of isolation).
In effect, this caused my Youtube channel to spring up some interest & viewership so that when I upload or livestream my musical/artistic abilities, we have even more engagement. What irony — a pandemic situation meant to force social distancing is the very thing getting me to interact!
As I am 100% out of words to speak on regarding my truth, I wish you all a wonderful day.

‘RonaMania 2020! How It Altered My Lifestyle! Pt. 1
Oh my, it’s been over 4 months since the last entry. This one is going to be a doozy. Since the last entry, as you all know, life in the United States as we knew it changed. COVID-19 started rolling in our turf & caused lockdowns, safer at home orders, furloughs, layoffs, deaths & more things that I could list but don’t want to detract from this entry’s purpose.
It definitely changed my way of life. Life, as I knew it, consisted of working, training, doing dad & boyfriend stuff. Work & kid school stuff took a toll on me & ended up stepping away from the gym job that I held onto for 3 years. No sour grapes, just needed to step away from everything while feeling physically burned out while heading to mental burnout. Although prior to the Safer At Home order that happened on my birthday weekend in March I had been in my personal peak shape (239 pounds w/15% body fat), things were inevitably going to change.
Without a gym, I had to think quickly & got a set of resistance bands — the lightest one maxing at 35 pounds, the middle ones 65 & 85 respectively while the heaviest one being at 125. I had to re-think how I trained in a life beyond the dumbbells & barbells. It was pretty easy. The biggest obstacle happened to be well, being at home. It can be very easy to be distracted — video games, the news, trying to look for work, eating more than usual, playing w/my kid & girlfriend. I’ve been guilty of pretty much all of it.
What I did find surprising was that, despite having gained lots of weight (I had gotten as up to 281 form March end of this month) the strangest thing was my body fat percentage. My body fat, at the highest in this pandemic, was at 16.07%. So all this weight gain & yet fat was the minimal of the gain. Calories in being significantly more than out is the obviously but let it be known that there are reasons why it piled up as quick as it did. I’ll gladly list a few things.
Activity level. Prior to COVID19, my job had me walking about 4.7 miles/day on a 7 day basis minimum & maxing at 5.5 miles/day a week. As of this writing, I’m now averaging 2 miles/day per week. That’s a huge drop in activity. What your body is burning when on this active of a level will be in stark contrast to what it needs to drop/gain/maintain weight when you are more sedentary. I went from training 3 days a week for 45 minute sessions w/working as a janitor & taking my kid to school in the mornings to now just 2-3 days of 30-60 minute training sessions, online schooling w/my kid & working at a convenience store.
The food is there. The gym or training outside is more prone to keep you away from food & let’s be sincere here — when at home w/a fridge/freezer/pantry full of food, you can be tempted. As do I. I already had a past w/a bad relationship w/food i.e. binging & with staying home, the demons come out to torment. Working at a convenience store? It’s the ultimate test of willpower!
The reason I managed to minimize the fat gain happens to be due to what I prefer to eat/drink. Yes, I can struggle w/sweetening my coffee or oats at times but also, knowing how sensitive my body is now to animal products as they now force a lot of unwanted mucus production, I keep it plant-based. This means my diet is primarily of Fruits, Grains, Legumes, Nut/Seeds & Vegetables. Water is very essential so you bet I have a gallon/day as a bare minimum.
Additionally, at the age of 35, I had to sit back & reassess my training. Sure, I love to lift heavy & strive to be on powerlifting levels of strength but I had to be realistic w/my body & what it requires on a day to day basis vs. what I always push for. Sure, I’m only now at 15.2% body fat @ 281 pounds but do I need all that extra mass? The answer is a clear no & therefore now my new journey is to drop as low as I realistically can within reason. Just to keep things realistic w/my current lifestyle, I adjusted my goal to drop 1/2 pound/week via Cronometer, which is my app of preference for tracking my food, macros & other nutrients.
As for the ever buzz-worthy term, “intuitive eating”, I don’t think that method is healthy for people that are emotional eaters, binge eaters or people that lack any sense of control in terms of what enters their bodies. My past history of binge eating is a clear sign that such a method would prove to be toxic to my well-being. I do advocate intermittent fasting because it helps give a physical reset to those of us whom are constantly eating every few hours & haven’t had a chance to give their gut a break.
