Average daily life of a person consists of 24 hours. We eat, leisure time, rise, sleep, work & exercise somewhere in between. Regardless of variation, we are natural creatures of habit, although often longing to rattle the cage in the same spontaneity, variety, fun & perhaps unbridled chaos.
Those that know me, I run on a rinse/repeat schedule & thus when it comes to my training, I often cap it down to 45 minutes to an hour — all before clocking in to do my labor. There is, however, one tiny little detail some may not know — that if time or responsibility were not a constraint (this includes significant others, children, putting my mind into developing content for my brand), if locked up in a gym, I could go on for an indefinite amount of time.
General Adaptation Syndrome, Principle of Specificity, as well as the way our Golgi Tendon Organs all have something in common — Whatever form of demand, eventually the body adapts — demand, load or stress. The GTO, when trained properly, can eventually experience a level of being desensitized & thus the threshold for stress will heighten.
Back in my early days of lifting in 2008-2012 in Brooklyn, even with school & work, I could go for hours in the gym. I think if I possessed the knowledge I have now back then, I likely would’ve experienced significant changes.
In 2019, my body is itching for this same level of stimulus. I can get an efficient amount of time to train for my body’s health but lately the desire to go for a full frontal, unbridled assault has been creeping up. My form of training in the past month & a half has been gradually accommodating this itch.
Stay tuned for Part 2!
