Hey 322 Crew,
Fall is definitely arrived here in Tampa. Morning temps clocking in the low 60s and soon mid-50s. It’s truly refreshing and the days of mid-80s or 90s are behind us. Work schedule has opted to mess with my sleep pattern but as of today, things will be back to normal.
I have begun to start a monthly writing schedule non-FireFrei related. At this time, the name of the story is called Drafts. It had been on my mind to do a story project where I write a chapter, long or short, for each month an at the conclusion of 12 months, release it in printed format.
It’s very off-the-cuff but it’s also presented an opportunity to create a story and environment that’s more disconnected from the Emmanuel Lucifer landscape. Sometimes, when you’ve invested so much time thinking and plotting a story over a stretch of time, you eventually want to step out and do something else.
Bear this in mind — I began the Emmanuel saga during 2012 when I was still living in Brooklyn. I was a different man in a very different environment with an experience and creative horizons tempered differently from where I’m at today. Between FireButt and the ongoing FireFrei, so much changed in my personal life and, in effect, the writing in the latter part has felt the shift. Yes, there are things that still tie together between the two novels but there are also things that needed to change.
I don’t know where this Drafts story will go in another 11 months but thus far, the story and setting does feel a bit lighter with just a touch of grit.
