It’s morning and thankfully I had some rest the last two nights. In the process, I did have another major streaming session of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The game is truly a modern masterpiece. I’m approaching close to the end of Act I. With all the reveal dumps that happened with Maelle’s Nightmares, I’ve experienced anxiety, shock, awe and even a hint of fear. To think that this game was put together by absolute newcomers to the gaming industry, let alone the composer of the soundtrack, to hit a home run this solid so early in the game is a testament to the potential Sandfall Interactive possesses. Solid gameplay, cohesive, compelling story, beautiful art direction and a soulful soundtrack? They put many AAA studios to shame.
Having said all that, within the past 24 hours, I’ve managed to get on Final Cut Pro to take that lengthy stream and cut it into two separate episodes. In the process, I will be releasing these videos in a vertical format as I figured out how to put it together thanks to this software, while having a good editing format with Krita to make a nice backdrop presentation for the episodes.
This will also make the Shorts easier to craft without losing any hint of the graphical display the game demonstrates. That’s something about very solid video games — when they display a level of quality that your heart cherishes, you must respect it and present it without trimming so much as an inch. I may be doing commentary and analysis but I refuse to let the game’s shine be hindered by snipping off even an inch of the screen.
When I begin to livestream via OBS to do multi-stream, that trend will continue, as Twitch will get horizontal but YouTube will see the vertical display right off the bat.
