Men’s Mental Health Awareness. Performative as Usual.

June comes to a close, as does Men’s Mental Health Awareness. It came and went, amounting barely to anything.

Yes, people occasionally posted “Check on them and make sure they’re okay” or “you don’t know what they’re dealing with” but at best, it was performative fluff.

No real conversations were had. Father’s Day came and went and honestly, nothing changed from 20 years ago, when it was often discussed about how that day is the most dreaded compared to Mother’s Day.

We also live in a different world than the world I grew up in. It’s easy for me to go on a massive diatribe about the thing w that actually upset men about women but conversely the opposite. No such thing will happen today as it only feeds the maelstrom whirlpool of chaos. We have enough of this in the world.

It’s okay to be a male. It’s okay to be a man. By this, I mean that it’s okay to long for the warmth of a significant of other. It’s okay to have a strong libido. It’s okay to want to provide for yourself and others and that it’s okay to want to lead for a better tomorrow.

It is also okay to remember that in leading, the hearts, desires and needs of others must also be wisely weighed. It’s okay to refrain from strong libido impulses and channel it into other things you enjoy; from lifting weights, reading books, going for long walks, video games and sports. It’s okay to have feelings and properly address them. Even the upmost stoics aren’t stone-faced about emotions and manliness; they are often discussing the complexities of emotions and how they compound the affinities of this life.

I call folks to do a reset. Break the wheel. Look at each other differently. I’m done with this culture war of the sexes as it feeds the Idea of Evil; plaguing the masses, almost begging for the Lord Of Frenzied Flame to come and burn it all away in the yellow chaos flame.
