The Game That Breaks Me; For Those Who Come After

How are you feeling right now?

It’s Saturday morning and I’m a wreck. Before going to work, I took time on Twitch to stream more Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to get through the Forgotten Battlefield and fight Pontiff Sulyv— erm I meant Dualliste. What I wasn’t prepared for was the very heartstring-pulling meeting under what looks like a Weirwood tree from a A Song of Ice And Fire by George R.R. Martin.

I cried…a lot. Yes, I cried significantly more than when I saw Aerith die in Final Fantasy VII or when finding out Akinari died in Persona 3 Reload.

It’s comforting to know that a game can invoke such emotion. The creators understand what it feels to be human, for all its faults and quirks.

Then you have Esquie. God bless him because he brings comfort and relief amidst all the sorrow and sadness that one experiences in the journey.

This entry took longer than expected to post due to spending the entire weekend sick from some nasty cold/flu and of all things on my daughter’s birthday. Regardless, we will prevail and continue.

For those who come after, right?
