I sat down in my room today reading the first 3 chapters and intro of FireButt and honestly, I’m glad I chose the manga style font. It made reading a breeze and I’m glad I chose the A5 format with 12pt font size and double space. It’s easy on the eyes and you’ll be able to read through.
The book is truly a good time capsule of where I started in 2012 when writing it en route to 2016 when I finished it. I giggled, I laughed and found myself remembering how much fun I had. It has also begun to bring to life certain plot elements I intend to bring full circle in FireFrei. It will be in a very “Remember what happened there? It’s coming full circle now!” kind of way.
I do have to make one adjustment to the spine portion of the book cover and maybe one slight grammatical fix or two that exist in the first two chapters but beyond that, the book is everything I remember it being.
It brought back memories of when I used to play Mortal Kombat X and Street Fighter V in respect to how following chapters would consist of perspectives of other characters in the story and bringing it full circle near the end in preparation for the next one.
I’m retrospect, I used an element that George R.R. Martin used for his A Song Of Ice and Fire books. That perspective device for chapters is a very useful tool for storytelling.
More will come, I promise you this much. In the meantime, amidst the political stuff happening in recent days, my YouTube channel livestreams will be a safe space for those looking to escape from the high tension that’s happening.
As I’ve recently said in my previous livestreams — 322 is refuge.
It’s been a while since my last post here — my life has been quite hectic. I wanted to give an update on my YouTube schedule and progress of the FireFrei transcription. Being a parent can be challenging, especially when my 10-year-old is neurodivergent and dealing with schoolwork in 4th grade. Parenting is a demanding task and it becomes more complex when your child has unique traits that you may not fully understand. Coordinating schedules with the other parent to be more present for our child adds another layer of difficulty. To focus more on being present and available for my child, I’ve decided to reduce my video upload schedule and slightly cut my Twitch livestream sessions.
I mainly livestream on Twitch — where you can join me for some weekend fun/shenanigans from the comfort of your own home. It’s also where my best friend and I team up for some gaming antics. If you can’t catch my livestreams, you can find all the edited/episodic content on my YouTube channel. Here’s my upcoming YouTube schedule:
Since I work during the week, I typically go live on Twitch from 8pm to Midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, unless there’s a change announced.
As for the development of FireFrei, I’ve completed the first two chapters, complete with hand-drawn artwork covers for each. The art is kept in its raw, nearly-unedited form — which simplifies the process, even though it can be mentally challenging. I’ve noticed that the FireFrei chapters are longer than FireButt’s and they seem to be getting progressively longer with each new chapter. When I begin releasing them quarterly, you can expect a more satisfying reading experience.
I am in the process of working on FireFrei #2 and have made progress in typing and editing the content. I am currently comparing the length of this sequel to FireButt #1. Rest assured, I am diligently working on producing new writing material for the 322 Crew.
In my upcoming posts, I will be changing my art style to fully hand-drawn illustrations. I will make minor digital adjustments but want my readers to see the authentic art as I created it. While my previous work had a lot of references to anime, video games and music, my future content will also include elements of horror and dark fantasy.
Sure! Stay tuned for the first chapter coming soon. For updates, you can subscribe to my YouTube channel at YouTube.com/@ron322.
