Chapter 8 Incoming! Closing in on FireFrei!

I don’t pay attention to soccer; it’s just not my thing. If you like it, have at it.

I’ve recently taken a deeper plunge into Octopath Traveler 0 and I’m glad I have. It cooks slow but surely and you’re rewarded for your time invested in story development. I enjoy how initially you charge forward into one direction of your protagonist’s journey but as things flesh out, the game hints at you, based on danger level, where you should travel next so that you’re not left for hours beating your head or grinding needlessly. I’m determined to the Path of Power but in order to be strong enough to run through it, I’ve had to invest in the Path of Fame. The Fame route is much easier but the plot with Auguste is truly one that has you cursing the guy out for being an asshole — an asshole with a catchphrase and pose. When you learn just how fucked up he is, you end up yearning to beat him to a bloody pulp.

Greyjoy has been the source of rest in my days off, as he makes it obvious that he wants to snuggle and have me revel in his soft and fragrant body.

Alas, FireFrei’s overall writing is close to completion. After 6 years, we’re at the finish line. I can honestly say that staying away from streaming has helped the inspiration come flooding through. It’s as though my mind was waiting for me to give it attention. I had also struggled with finishing chapter 7 as it was the most important of the chapters but thankfully, I love a story that writes itself at times. It went on to the point that I needed to take out a 2nd composition book to continue writing chapter 8. There’s a part of me that wants this last chapter to end on a note of wonder but also pointing towards the next project — Drafts.

As of this writing, it’s almost late July and true to my word, I’ve been writing a chapter every month for that project. Short or long, every month has granted me a chapter. Whereas Emmanuel’s story in FireFrei is one with persistence, suffering and resolve, Ronoir’s in this story is one with wonder, adventure, curiosity and exploration away from whatever lifetime he once had compared to the one he initially awakens to. It’s also refreshing to write something where I have to go beyond my usual but hey, that’s the fun of creative writing; some stories have a specific journey while others write themselves from the jump. Maybe reading about Carl Jung’s method of freehand writing has done me more good than I thought.
