This has been a fascinating several days. I went back to the gym for the 1st time in 6 years and it was refreshing. It wasn’t frustrating or awkward. It felt like I have legitimately set myself up for a good investment. There’s now a certain yearning to bring my body back up to speed with a plan that actually fits my lifestyle at the moment — and that’s the most important part.

I recently saw the season 3 finale of House of the Dragon and I hate to sound like a damn Martin stan but he’s right — it’s not really his story anymore. There are enough elements that have been shuffled to where it’s more of an alternate timeline. Has it been good TV? Subjectively speaking, yes. Is it flawed? Yes. I’ve learned to accept its flaws but also enjoy its many moments.

By the time I have this blog out, some of you have already seen the season finale of X-Men ‘97 before me but let it be known that not only am I looking forward to it but I’m glad they’ll be doing annual seasons moving forward. They have the original series showrunners from the early 90s and thus they have the right people to do it. To its advantage, a consistently great animation team and cast to drive the plot forward.

Now for the main event — my update on FireFrei. It legitimately won’t be long before I finish writing the novel and enter the artwork aspect of it. As I mentioned in previous entries, I had been in a funk for years in driving the story forward but eventually I found that spark to go full gear with it. There’s a sense of pride in knowing that I’m finally down to just needing to continue, finish and edit chapter 8 for it. Revisiting the story while editing gave me a clearer view on how to end this particular novel in order to prepare for this saga’s 3rd entry. I don’t have a working title for the next mainline title but upon editing this story, I’ll eventually find a name for it. One thing is for certain — imperfections between the 1st novel and this current one are being sorted out so that the 3rd can have a good start.

There’s also Drafts, which I intentionally have been writing one chapter monthly and true to my word, the length of each will greatly vary. It’s a personal challenge I put onto myself so that I constantly have something in my brain active, creatively speaking. Will it be in the same universe as the Fire series that I’ve been doing? I’ll say this — I won’t rule it out but as of right now, it’s a no. Is it possible that I can tie them somehow? In the words of George RR Martin when asked if A Song of Ice and Fire would end the same as Game of Thrones, “Yes and no. No and yes and yes and no.” — that’s as honest of an answer I can give you all.
